The 100-item Picture-Collection is the form of BIANCO Project closest to the fine art context.
BIANCO pictures take great advantage of digital technology, as they were made using panorama technique, in some cases covering more than 180 degrees. The pictures have unusual proportions (their width is many times more than their height).
The central motif of BIANCO Picture-Collection is ... the artist. He creates self-ironic situations that examine the role of the artist in society. The artist presents his figure without any idealisation, in his own clothes, with his typical gestures and behaviour. It is obvious from the settings that it's not a model but the artist himself who is in the pictures. It's also obvious that the pictures weren't made with the assistance of professionals, but constitute a one-person art action.
The photos of the BIANCO picture series were taken between 2001 and 2003 in the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Norway and Hungary. |
